Good food has always been part of Chef James life. He loves to play with new flavors and push the boundaries in the culinary world, a talent he inherited from his mom, who ran a bakery out of her home.

Born in Chicago but raised just over the border in Wisconsin, Chef James has always enjoyed working with fresh fish and it is something he excels at. He joined the US Army at the age of 25, where he served for four years and used his G.I Bill to pursue his love and passion for food. In 2019, he enrolled into Paragon Culinary School in Colorado Springs, where he graduated first on his class with Summa Cum Laude. During that time, he worked directly under his mentor, Victor Mathews, who guided him to become the successful Executive Chef he is today.  Chef James has worked at many fine restaurants, including the Briarhurst Manor. He also worked as a culinary instructor at Skills Academy Vocational College, where he taught special needs students how to work in a kitchen.

With his out of the box ideas, creativity, and leadership skills, Chef James has a lot to offer to Spinners Rooftop Grille. His passion really lies with classic food and a modern twist. He likes to bring an artistic side to his food.

Perched at the top of one of the most iconic buildings in St. Pete, Spinners offers a unique beachside dining adventure. A favorite of both resort guests and locals, this elegant yet unpretentious rotating restaurant ensures there isn't a bad seat in the house, giving everyone the chance to soak up the views and the vibe.  

Offering a menu that showcases all that Florida brings to the literal table, from locally caught seafood, fresh greens, and sweet treats, plus beef & pork sourced from premium ranchers across the country. 

Spinners' partnership with local farmers at The Villages Grown brings the freshest produce to our tables in less than 48 hours from harvest. Seasonal changes highlight the catch of the day, fished by local anglers sailing out of Madeira Beach. We also feature Black Angus and Duroc cuts of Creekstone Farms finest beef and pork. Creating a balanced bounty of land and sea, with simple preparations that let each ingredient shine.  It does not get any fresher than this!
